1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Security City and Hardware Suppliers (Pty) Ltd, trading as Maxima SA ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information. It is issued in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").
We are the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy.
Maxima SA supplies customers through its dealer network and directly. The personal information we hold may relate to customers purchasing directly, as well as the staff and representatives of stockists, distributors and installers.

3. What personal information we collect

- The content of your enquiry or message
- The products you add to a quote basket
- Delivery or collection details
- Company registration number, VAT number and trade references, where you apply to become a stockist or open an account
- Any information you give us by telephone, WhatsApp or email
Information we collect automatically
- IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Browser type, device type and operating system
- Pages visited, time spent and the page that referred you
- Cookie identifiers, as described in our Cookie Policy
Information from third parties
- Credit bureau and trade reference information, where you apply for a credit account
- Information from couriers and delivery partners relating to a delivery
We do not knowingly collect the personal information of children through the website. We do not seek special personal information, as defined in POPIA, through the website.

5. Stockist listings
Where you are an appointed stockist, we may publish your business name, trading address, telephone number, email address and website on our stockist page so that customers can find you. We publish business contact details rather than the personal details of individual employees, unless you ask us to do otherwise.
You may ask us to amend or remove your listing at any time by emailing info@maximasa.co.za.
6. Direct marketing
We will only send you electronic marketing where you have consented to receive it, or where you are an existing customer, we obtained your details in the course of a sale and the marketing relates to similar products.
Every marketing message we send will include a clear way to opt out. You may also unsubscribe at any time by emailing info@maximasa.co.za. We will action your request without charge.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
7. Who we share your personal information with
- Operators and service providers, including our website host, email provider, IT support, form and analytics providers, and any customer relationship or accounting system we use
- Couriers and delivery partners, to deliver goods to you
- Manufacturing and import partners, where a warranty claim or technical query has to be escalated
- Banks and payment processors, in relation to payment
- Credit bureaux, trade references and debt collectors, where you apply for or hold a credit account
- Professional advisers, including our auditors, accountants and attorneys
- Regulators, SARS, courts and law enforcement, where we are required to disclose by law or to protect our rights
Where a customer enquiry relates to a product bought from a stockist, we may refer that enquiry, together with the contact details supplied, to the stockist concerned so that they can assist.
Where we appoint an operator to process personal information on our behalf, we conclude a written agreement requiring that operator to maintain appropriate security safeguards, in accordance with section 21 of POPIA.
8. Transfers outside South Africa
Some of the service providers we use, including our website host and email provider, store data on servers outside South Africa. We also correspond with overseas manufacturing partners in relation to product and warranty matters. Where personal information is transferred across a border we do so in accordance with section 72 of POPIA, and only where the recipient is subject to a law, binding corporate rules or a binding agreement that provides an adequate level of protection.
Current cross border processing includes website and database hosting provided by Lovable and its infrastructure providers, which may store data in the European Union and the United States; email hosting provided by Domains.co.za in South Africa; and website analytics provided by Google, which may process data in the United States.

Once a retention period has expired we delete or de-identify the information.
10. How we protect your personal information
We take appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, damage, unauthorised access and unlawful processing, as required by section 19 of POPIA. These include encryption of the website in transit using HTTPS, access controls and individual user accounts, restricting access to staff who need it, confidentiality obligations for staff and service providers, regular backups, and periodic review of our safeguards.
If a security compromise affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as soon as reasonably possible after becoming aware of it, in accordance with section 22 of POPIA.
11. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- be notified that we are collecting your personal information, and that it has been accessed without authorisation;
- request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to be told who has had access to it;
- request correction, updating or deletion of personal information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading or obtained unlawfully;
- object to the processing of your personal information on reasonable grounds, using Form 1 under the POPIA Regulations;
- object to direct marketing at any time;
- not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that has legal consequences for you. We do not carry out such processing;
- complain to the Information Regulator;
- institute civil proceedings in respect of an alleged breach.
